This is the third and final of Crossroads Blues Society’s Heirs to the Blues Shows at Lyran Park. The show is on September 25th with the Cash Box Kings going on from 3 to 6 PM. Opening for them are the superb youth band Ax and the Hatchetmen from Chicago’s far northern suburbs; they go on at 1 PM.

CBK front man Oscar Wilson is a second generation bluesman as is drummer Kenny Smith. These guys along with Joe Nosek, Billy Flynn and the rest of the band are incredible.  Their Alligator Records recordings have been big hits! Axel Ellis fronts his band of recent HS grads. Three guitar, a three piece horn section and a backline make this a super band, covering blues, rock, jazz and more.

Bring a chair, bring a cooler with your favorite food and beverages and have a great time. Handicapped accessible (we have a golf cart). Lyran Park is at 4781 S Bend Rd, Rockford, IL 61109, a private park on the banks of the Kishwaukee River just south of Rockford Airport. It’s a beautiful, natural amphitheater with room to spread out and safely watch shows.
