Blues Blast Music Awards 

 

In 2008, a group of Blues music industry professionals including music critics, journalists, festival promoters, music venue managers, producers, musicians and other Blues music industry folks got together to create a new independent way to recognize the best in Blues music. The result was the first Blues Blast Music Awards.

The nominees are selected without any conflict of interests. No record labels, agents, artist managers or publicists who represent possible nominees are involved in the nomination process resulting in a unbiased selection process.

All Blues musicians including independent artists and labels are able to submit their music directly to our nominators for consideration resulting in a recognition series that often  includes a wide array of independent artists and labels not often recognized by other award series.

The process results in two forms of recognition for the artists. First the nominators select their “best of” choices so ALL of the nominees are winners because they have in effect won “the critic’s award” by being nominated.

Then folks vote for free without having to belong to any organization or group. The results are the largest awards series where Blues fans vote for the Best in contemporary Blues music giving the artists with the most votes a true “people’s choice” award!

Each year after the fans have voted for their favorites, a formal award ceremonies event is held at the end of October where the “People’s Choices” are announced and many of the nominees perform for the fans. Each year this event is one of the biggest Blues shows in the fall of the year with scores of artists performing.

The Blues Blast Music Awards are presented by Blues Blast Magazine.
